Joseph Hoyt Walker was a grandson of Joseph DeForest Hoyt, who was a grandson of Joseph and Ann Clinch Campbell. He left NYU to enlist in WW2 and served 5 years in the 101st Signal Battalion in the Pacific, and became a Sergeant. Not having a degree because of the war, he was able to get into this training program and went on to become a civil engineer with the New York State and Florida Highway Departments.
