Campbell Reunion Society met in Odd Fellows Hall on account of rain instead of on the School House Porch as usual. Meeting called to order by Pres. C. F. Merritt after a song (The Campbell Reunion Song).1 Prayer was offered by Rev. Joseph Colclough of the Presbyterian Church.
A Short Address of Welcome was Delivered by J. E. Hazlett. After which a number of regrets were read from C.H. Congdon of Chicago, Edgar Congdon of Tacoma, Wash. & Harry Campbell of New York. Also Wm. Selph of New York. - Then E.C. Blackwell read a History of the Blackwell Family. - For Past 100 years - Mrs. Frances G. Hoyt read a poem by Mrs. Lena Goodrich.2 An original poem was read by Mrs. M. B. Seely. Mr. William Campbell of Slate Run gave a very interesting talk on his branch of the Campbell family.3 Charlie Merritt very interesting talk on the Hazlett family connection. Then C. L. Peck gave an interested talk on early reminiscences of the Campbell family.
Enoch Blackwell4 sang a parody on The Old Gray Bonnett & to the Campbells. G.W. Buck was elected Pres. and E.C. Blackwell, was elected Vice Pres. Clyde Campbell Secy. M. B. Seely treasurer.
1. Mabel SHIPMAN Shaw wrote the words for that song.
2. Frances read the poem for her sister-in-law because Lena was profoundly deaf as a result of scarlet fever in childhood.
3.Slate Run is in Brown Twp., Lycoming. The 1910 census of Brown Twp., has a William R. Campbell, but his Campbell line doesn't seem to be connected to ours.
4. There was more than one Enoch Blackwell alive then. I'm not sure which one sang.
