E. Selph of New York, Mrs. C. H. Lugg and daughter of Coudersport, and W. A. [sic] Monroe and wife, Dr. Ross G. Loop and wife, G. W. Buck and family, P. E. Young and family, and A. E. Campbell, all of Elmira. There was a fine musical and literary programme, the participants in which included Dr. Ross G. Loop, Mrs. Jane Tubbs, Mrs. Lucy Hazlett, E. B. Campbell, E. C. Blackwell, Rena Campbell, W. E. Selph, P. E. Young, The programme included a song, "The Campbell Reunion Song", composed by Mabel Shipman Shaw.3 The Nelson orchestra played music all day.
1. The program (it said 'program', not 'programme') called it a meeting of the "Campbell Reunion Society."
2. In this context, "instant" means "of this month."
3. Mabel SHIPMAN Shaw wrote the words. But the tune was that of a popular Civil War song..
