Samuel Hazlett (1816 - 1888)

Samuel was born Oct. 28, 1816 in Nelson, Tioga Co., PA; d. Feb. 5, 1888 in Nelson, son of John Hazlett, b. abt. 1787 in N. Ireland or Scotland, and Jane Campbell, b. 1792 in N. Ireland or Scotland.

Sam married Catherine Swartwood Knapp, b. July 26, 1816 in Orange Co., NY, d. Nov. 2, 1902, daughter of William Rundell Knapp and Sally Payne. Catherine's brother, Wm. Rundell Knapp (1819 - 1899), married Sally Jane Hazlett, [Sam's sister].

Samuel and Catherine Knapp Hazlett had 3 children, all born in Nelson:

1. Edgar Hopestill "Hope" Hazlett, b. Sept 5, 1843, m. Carrie Amanda Buckbee;
   
2. John A. Hazlett, b. 1849, m. Mary J. DeMuir; and
3. Mary Louise Hazlett, b. Apr. 28, 1854, m. 2nd cousin Jud Seely.
