Roscoe Kemp Is Named President

Elected at 37th Annual Reunion of Beecher Island Campbell Clan at Nelson

NELSON, Pa. Aug. 17--The 37th annual reunion of the Beechers Island Campbell Clan was held in the Odd Fellow's Hall at Nelson, Pa. August 15.

After a bountiful dinner served in the dinning room the company met in the upper hall where they were called to order by the president, Harry C. Kemp. Mrs. J. M. Parks has charge of the singing with Mrs. Helen Wilson at the piano. Prayer was ordered by C. H. Lugg. The address of welcome was given by Mrs. Fannie Monroe and pleasantly responded to by Mrs. Kate Horton. The secretary read letters from William E. Selph, Jesse Allen and Mrs. Mabel Shaw. Speeches were made by Edward Green,1 Mame Selph, Emma Seiders,2 J. M. Parks, M. B. Seely, Mr. and Mrs. Lugg,3 Mrs. Beck, Mrs. Wilbur, Mrs. Clark[,]4 Fred Green and others. After a talk by the president, Harry C. Kemp, the reunion song, written by Mrs. Mabel Shaw,5 was sung.

These officers for next year were elected: president, Roscoe Kemp; secretary and treasurer, Crena Kemp.

About 60 members and friends enjoyed the occasion.

1. This probably refers to a person we have as Edwin Greene.

2. Probably refers to Myra BUCK Seiders. Whom the secretary may have confused with Myra's mother, Emma CONGDON Buck, who died the previous year.

3. There are many "Mr. and Mrs. Lugg"s this could refer to, but the most likely are Charles H. Lugg, mentioned, as giving the prayer, and Minnie WILSON Lugg. Especially because the next person mentioned is their daughter.

4. There are other "Mrs. Clark"s this could refer to, but the most likely candidate is Minnie Tubbs Clark.

5. Mabel SHIPMAN Shaw wrote the words. But the tune was that of a popular Civil War song, "Marching Through Georgia."
