Jane was born Dec 31, 1790 in N. Ireland (or possibly Scotland); d.
Jan. 8, 1832 in Tioga Co., PA to Joseph
Campbell, b. 1748 in Scotland and Mary
Harper, b. there 1749. On Apr. 4, 1811, in Nelson (originally
called Beecher's Island) in Tioga
Co., PA she married her sister Sally's
brother-in-law, John Hazlett, b.
abt. 1789 in N. Ireland or Scotland.
Jane Campbell, along with her parents, and the youngest of her
siblings, sailed from Londonderry to Perth Amboy, NJ in 1810. They
traveled to a farm owned by Sam
Hazlett , husband of Jane's sister, Sally. We don't know for sure
when John came to America. Presumably he came with his older brother. If
so he was in Lancaster Co., PA before 1803.
By 1806, Sam and wife Sally, and presumably John, were living on Sam's
farm near Stroudsburg, Monroe Co., PA. Sam, Jane's father, Joseph
Campbell, and her uncle, John Campbell,
had purchased land in Beecher's Island. They all traveled from
Stroudsburg to Beecher's Island as part of the "Campbell-Hazlett
Expedition" that arrived in Nelson early in 1811.
John and Jane Campbell Hazlett had 9 children, all born in Nelson,
Tioga Co., PA:
