Sarah CAMPBELL Congdon (1824 - 1897)

Sarah "Sally" Campbell was born Oct. 15, 1824, in Nelson, Tioga Co., PA; d. there Feb. 3, 1897. Married Jan. 19, 1848 in Elkland Twp., Tioga Co., PA, to Benjamin Docray Congdon; b. May 13, 1820, on Shelter Island, Sufolk Co.. NY; d. Sep. 27, 1897. He was a farmer and carpenter. Benjamin's parents were George Wickam Congdon and Mary Champlin, both born in RI.

Sally was the 2nd of 12 children of Joseph Campbell, b. 1793 in N. Ireland or Scotland, d. 1864 in Nelson; and Ann Clinch, born 1804 in Gloucestershire, England, died 1872 in Nelson.

Benjamin and Sally Campbell Congdon had three children, all born in Nelson:

1. Emma E. Congdon, b. Nov. 5, 1848, m. Jabez Leroy Buck;
2. Edgar Thomas (or Thomas Edgar) Congdon, b. Jul. 9, 1850, m. Emma Vaughan; and
3. Charles Harris Congdon, b. Dec. 18, 1856, m. Anna Rebecca McWilliams.
