John Harper Campbell (1836 - 1899)

John Harper Campbell was born Jan. 12, 1836, in Nelson, Tioga Co., PA; d. Oct. 23, 1899. Married Feb. 10, 1858 to Calfurna "Cal"/"Calfurney" J. Bottom; b. Dec. 26, 1842, in Nelson; d. Oct 18, 1910 in Osceola, Tioga Co., PA. Cal's parents were Nathan S. Bottum and Betsy Lockwood.

John was the 8th of 12 children of Joseph Campbell, b. 1793 in N. Ireland or Scotland, d. 1864 in Nelson; and Ann Clinch, born 1804 in Gloucestershire, England, died 1872 in Nelson.

John served in Co. H of the 207th Pa. Volunteers during the Civil War. He was an elder of the Beechers Island Presbyterian Church for many years. He had an insurance business in Nelson.

John chaired the 1893 reunion organization meeting and was Pres. for 1894.

John and Cal Bottom Campbell had two children:

1. Adelbert Eugene Campbell, b. Dec. 9, 1859 in Farmington Twp., Tioga Co., PA, m. Carrie F. Sebring; and
2. Luella B. Campbell, b. Oct. 29, 1866, m. Philip Edward Young.
