Thomas Clinch Campbell was born Mar. 25, 1856, in Farmington Twp., Tioga Co., PA; d. Feb. 1, 1933 in St. Petersburg, FL. Married Apr. 12, 1876 in Nelson Twp., Tioga Co. to Campbell Cousin Frances "Frank" Parks, b. Aug. 12, 1855, in NY; d. Sep. 22, 1927 in St. Peterburg. Frank's parents were Benjamin Parks , born 1820 in NY, and Mary Campbell, born 1830 in Nelson.
Tommie was the 3rd of 5 children of William
Campbell, b. 1822 in Nelson, Tioga Co., PA, d. there 1875; and Helen Peasley, born 1826 in NY, died 1876 in
Nelson.
Tommie and Frank lived much of their adult lives in Knoxville, Tioga
Co., PA, where Tommie was the NY Central RR station agent. After
"retiring" to St. Pete, he built a 20 room hotel, "The Campbell House",
but later turned its management over to daughter and son-in-law Mary
& Curt Shewman so he could focus on real estate development. He was
very successful, but after the FL real estate bubble burst he leased the
undeveloped portion to the city (1930). His daughters sold it to the
city in 1943. It's now Campbell Park and has a nice plaque honoring
Tommie.
Tommie was Secretary of the 1893, 1894 & 1902 Campbell Reunions,
vice-pres of the 1905 & 1914 reunions, and president of the 1904,
1906, 1907, 1908, 1914 & 1933 reunions.And active in the Campbell
Cousins Dinners,
