Anna BOSARD Owlett (1860 - 1934)

Anna Marie Bosard was born Apr. 4, 1860, in Farmington Twp., Tioga Co., PA; d. Mar. 11, 1934 in Nelson, Tioga Co., PA. Married Apr. 4, 1883 in Nelson to Andrew Owlett, b. Jan. 3, 1850, in Chatham Twp., Tioga Co., PA; d. Sep. 19, 1924 in Nelson. Andrew's parents were Thomas M. Owlett b. 1823 in Kent, England, and Mary Treat, born 1828 in PA.

Ann was the youngest of 3 children of Eleanor Campbell, b. 1828 in Nelson, d. 1910 in Farmington Twp.; and Malchia Bosard, born 1822 in PA, died 1864 in Petersburg, VA from wounds received in the assault on City Point. Because of that, Ann attended the Soldiers' Orphans School in Mansfield, PA. In her mini-memoir, Phebe CAMPBELL Hoyt (Eleanor's sister), recalls hearing the news of Mac's death. (It's worth reading to get a glimpse into how difficult it was for the women to operate the farms when all the able bodied men were away during the Civil War.)

"Mac" and Ann Bosard Owlett had nine children:

4. John Bosard Owlett, b. Nov. 26, 1890 in Nelson, m. Eva L. Mattison;
5. Charles Ellsworth Owlett, b. Sep. 9, 1892 in Nelson, m. Leah Katherine Butler;
6. Carlton Andrew Owlett, b. Jul. 26, 1894 in Farmington Twp., Tioga Co., PA, m. Faye "Fay" Olive Leonard (James B. Leonard's sister);
7. Marcus "Mark" Treat Owlett, b. Jun. 24, 1897 in Gold., Potter Co., PA, m. Martha Orilla Buck;
8. Burton Wesley Owlett, b. Jul. 15, 1899 in Gold, m. Alice N. Bowman; and
9. Thomas Mac "Mac" Owlett, b. Dec. 13, 1902 in Gold, m. Mary G. Bower, Nora G. Miller and Birdie Litherland.

Andrew was previously married to Dolly Doane, but they had no children.

Anna and Andrew hosted the 1922 Campbell Cousins Dinner at their home, "The Owl's Nest", on Oregon Hill. (We have photo albums from that.) In 1924 she wrote that they lived on the '"Marks Farm", -- a part of Uncle William Campbell's farm'.
